Bar grating load capacity depends on the bearing bar size, spacing, construction and clear span between supports.
Industry designations such as 19-W-4 combine bearing-bar spacing, construction type and cross-bar spacing into a standard grating specification. Load tables should then be used to verify the selected bar size against the required span and loading condition.
